Hello. By way of introduction, my name is David Sweeney and I’ve been with Seattle PD for almost 30 years. I am a lieutenant and currently review use of force for the department. As you probably understand, fellow cops are drawn to fellow cops because we usually have a no B.S. attitude, especially when it comes to fellow law enforcement officers. We genuinely want to help one another. I’m hoping to establish a little trust here with you. I’m 53 and can retire anytime. I make an excellent salary in Seattle, and home prices here are sky high, as you probably know (similar to California, right?).
I’ve read your article on owning two homes 3 times, and I’m still not getting the math or the process, but the article is so enticing because of what I would like to do. Zillow lists my home at $850K. I owe $310,000. So, that is $470K in profit after paying fees. I want to buy a new home in a more expensive neighborhood with the same schools, church and friends, just like your article said. Are you saying to rent out the first house, and buy the new more expensive house?  Then move back in 2 years? This is the part that was confusing. I want to be able to use that $470K to buy a new house and have some leftover for getting into rental houses, so I can retire and enjoy my monthly retirement checks, and have supplemental income coming in from rental properties.
Probably more than you’d care to reply back in an e-mail, but I’d love to pick your brain on how to retire, move into a nicer house, and begin obtaining rental properties. Too much to ask? I think it can be done. If you have time to chat, my work phone during the day at SPD is 206-684-4309. Thanks David.
